Sailing for the Vancouver Rowing Club and skippered by Warren "Hale" Hale, Turicum is a C&C 44 built with balsa-cored fibreglass. Turicum has been actively racing for over fifteen years and has done countless local and distance races, including three of the Vic-Maui Qualifying Races: the Van Isle 360, Swiftsure and Southern Straits. She has competed in seven of the eight most recent Vic-Maui's and won her division in the 2008 race.
Hale hails from Richmond, BC. Turicum's crew will be drawn to the race by the challenge of preparing boat and crew; the adventure of sailing more than 2,300 miles to beautiful Maui; and the teamwork that makes it all possible.
Hale comments “I am looking forward to racing to Maui, again, with a great bunch of sailors. We look forward also to being embraced by the hospitality of the Lahaina Yacht Club and enjoying the Magic Isle as we regain our land legs.”
