Awards Banquet - Polishing the Silverware
The Vic-Maui 2014 Awards Banquet was held on the front lawn of the Sheraton Maui at Kaanapali in the shadow of Black Rock. Well over 350 guests attended a night of stories, trophies and a last chance to trade sea stories.
Final Results
"Longboard", Peter Salusbury's Riptide 35 sailing for West Vancouver Yacht Club, wins First Overall, First in Division 1, and First Boat across the Finish Line. John Mortimer's Beneteau First 477 "String Theory" from Vancouver Rowing Club places Second Overall and First in Division 2. John Kerrigan's Ker 46 "New Haven" from Port Madison Yacht Club is Third Overall and Travis McGregor's Beneteau Oceanis 50 "Turnagain" from Royal Vancouver Yacht Club wins Division 3.

Victoria to Maui International Yacht Race
The Victoria to Maui International Yacht Race is hosted by the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and the Lahaina Yacht Club. First contested in 1965 and sailed every second year since 1968, Vic-Maui is the pinnacle of Pacific Northwest ocean racing. Vic-Maui starts in July off Victoria, British Columbia and finishes near Lahaina, Maui, a distance of approximately 2308 nautical miles.
Vic-Maui challenges navigators to demonstrate their weather routing and navigational skills. Success depends on the navigator’s skill in predicting where the Pacific High pressure zone and trade winds will be, nearly a week into the future.
The adventure includes sailing around the Pacific High and surfing downwind in the trades. The days pass quickly with the fleet surrounded by dolphins and albatross, spectacular sunrises, sunsets and brilliant starlit nights.
Teamwork gets the boats to the finish line near Lahaina, where each arriving boat is greeted with an outstanding Hawaiian welcoming party. Family and friends meet the racers to celebrate the accomplishment with hugs, leis and mai-tais. Many crew stay to spend more time enjoying Maui with their families before heading home.

Vic-Maui Welcomes Outbreak
Outbreak is our 4th Lahaina Class entry.
Pat Fenton and his crew are excited and looking forward to the 2022 Vic-Maui aboard Outbreak. They raced together previously in the 2013 Van Isle 360 and in several Swiftsure races. However, this is the first Vic-Maui race for Outbreak and it’s crew. Pandemic permitting the plan is to book some sailing hours polishing skills and checking out the boat off Vancouver island in August this year. Team Outbreak is looking forward to the whole experience including the preparation work and training but especially a safe fun sail to Maui.
